JOIN THE FLINT HILLS COUNTERPOINT COMMUNITY CHOIR

  • Tabor College 400 South Jefferson Hillsboro, Kansas 67063 (map)

Cost: $25 (due at first rehearsal)

Join Flint Hills Counterpoint Community Choir n a gala celebration of the natural wonders of Marion County. We will be performing 2 works by Grammy Award-winning composer and cellist Eugene Friesen. Eugene will join us to co-conduct and play in Carl Sandburg's 'Prairie', and Grasslands: Prairie Voices. Grasslands: Prairie Voices was the featured work on the first Symphony in the Flint Hills event in June of 2006, and Carl Sandburg's 'Prairie' is a work based upon a 1918 poem by Carl Sandburg.

Eugene has graciously consented to arrange these works for chamber choir and chamber string orchestra and we would like to invite you to participate in the choir! Greg Zielke, choir director and head of fine arts at Tabor College will be the other co-conductor and will be directing rehearsals.

The concert will be the crowning event of a day of activities at the Counterpoint Festival located a few miles NE of Peabody in Marion County. We will be performing on a stage inside a converted pole barn!
